Leading world-class people to achieve their career goals
As the right employer, CLEAR has the best interests in helping grow your career – how to ensure you build a meaningful and impactful career for yourself. We’ve adapted our business to best address our candidates’ and employees’ needs in the new reality.
In this edition of our weekly series on what we’ve learned and how CLEAR can help you meet the critical challenge of your career, our focus is on how great leaders help you achieve your career goals.
World-class people demand outstanding leadership to effectively implement their client’s strategy. Leading great people is a different challenge to managing or supervising staff. The difference is between the “why”, the “how” and the “what”:
- Outstanding people demand leadership. They want to know “why” what they are doing is important and how it adds value to their clients
- Average people require management. They need to understand “how” to perform a task or achieve an outcome
- Below par people need supervision. It’s necessary to explain “what” they need to do.
To achieve your career goals, you must be able to access great leadership who provide the foundation in helping shape your career.
After developing our recruitment framework to identify and attract outstanding people, we quickly found that there were demanding – in the best sense. That wanted leadership from us to support them in supporting their clients. It was a big part of retaining those great people.
We developed a framework that quantifies the characteristics of a great CLEAR leader. Our focus is on enabling world-class talent to implement their clients’ strategies. As such, our leaders must empower, be firm and fair, goal-oriented, objective, open and direct.
This doesn’t do the thinking for the leaders in our business; it provides a framework for their decision-making in how to lead their teams each day. It also sets the expectation for our staff about the style of leadership they should experience. We work with our leaders in developing their understanding of why this approach is so important and how to apply it consistently.
Working effectively without a great leader is challenging. It means a lack of direction and processes. If you’re not working with great leaders, then you’ll experience a problematic career journey.
Next week, we will look at three great reasons to choose CLEAR as your potential employer.
All the best
